9 Girl Scouts undertook their Expedition Challenge during the Survival Skills Camp 2015. They organised and planned their own route to Belchamps Scouts Campsite and travelled independently to get there. Once they arrived they travelled on a ‘Survive a Life’ Exploration where they took their own teddies to various local points in town: to register its birth, school, marriage, book its holiday and register its death and make funeral arrangements. A lot of fun and learning was had by all. They completed their Expedition by preparing meals for fellow Girl Scouts and reporting and presenting their findings to their peers.
Girl Scouts and Explorers had a fantastic time at our ‘Survival Skill’ themed camp. They learnt the skills of firelighting, shelterbuilding and geocaching. They cooked their own meals over an open fire. They had a great evening of entertainment, reminders and naseeha around an evening campfire with smores and hot chocolate! They learnt lots about the art of Friendship and fun! Most importantly, the Girls were taught about our most important survival skill of all – Salah – with a reminder of how it would help them reach their ultimate purpose in life – to become closer to Allah and reach Jannah.
All Sections attended the Renewal of Promise Ceremony held at Hargreaves Scout Campsite on 23.04.15. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers renewed their promises as a Group. 5 7th Goodmayes Scout Leaders were also awarded their Wood Badges.
It was a lovely Spring Evening and everyone enjoyed many activities, including go karts, bouncy castles and wall climbing as well as burgers for all!
Our Scouts have been learning about Astronomy and Islam. In a fantastic trip to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich they learnt about Seasons, Phases and Eclipses and watched the Solar System, Galaxy and Universe Planetarium show. It was a beautiful day and they got to spend time outdoors in the sun too!
