7th Goodmayes celebrated as it welcomed 2 Young Leaders into its group of volunteers. It was testimony to the development of the Group as a whole – as both these young people had been Scouts themselves – they had now completed their training and were able to give their time back to the Group. Rumaysa Rafique had originally joined the Group as a Beaver and Nabeeha Yeahya had joined the Group as an Explorer Scout.
Our Scout Leaders were humbled by the kind actions of our Girl Explorers last week – when they presented Leaders of the ‘Survival Camp 2015’ a big ‘Thank you’ Cookie and flowers for running the Camp. t was a real and touching demonstration of Islamic morals and manners – that those who are grateful to people are grateful to Allah (SWT).
Girl Scouts and Explorers had a fantastic time at our ‘Survival Skill’ themed camp. They learnt the skills of firelighting, shelterbuilding and geocaching. They cooked their own meals over an open fire. They had a great evening of entertainment, reminders and naseeha around an evening campfire with smores and hot chocolate! They learnt lots about the art of Friendship and fun! Most importantly, the Girls were taught about our most important survival skill of all – Salah – with a reminder of how it would help them reach their ultimate purpose in life – to become closer to Allah and reach Jannah.
Our Girl Explorers helped Scouts from all over the District at the recent St. George’s Day ‘Renewal of Promise’ Ceremony held at Hargreaves Scout Campsite. They helped to supervise the Bouncy Castle and other Inflatables. Two Explorers currently undergoing training as Wall Climbing Instructors helped to run the wall climbing activity.
