Centenary Camp
This camp was to celebrate 100th year of scouting and we had all the scouts from East London. There were beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers. We had 300 people staying over with a wide range of activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, tracking, assault course, go-carting, archery, biscuit making, cooking, rifle shooting, laser gun shooting and lots more! We had loads of fun apart from when it rained. The rain poured down and leaked through our tents, but there were so many positive things we totally forgot about that. The food there was delicious and there was plenty of chocolate to go round.
Fairlop Waters
Fairlop waters was a fantastic event. It was a cold day but luckily the water wasn’t. Most people were scared to jump in but in the end we all went in the canoeing boats. We had a great time consisting of races, water fights, and we had time to do our own thing and go our own ways. No one could get lost because it wasn’t to big and there were life guards at certain parts. We all wore life jackets and a helmet just incase we fell in. So overall the day was fun, safe and freezing cold!
Sponsored walk
The sponsored walk was to raise money for charity. We walked to all the mosques around Redbridge in 6 hours. It was tiring and hard but we all managed it, the age ranged from 6 to 40. The whole day was a great experience and it got people exercising and out in the fresh air. It also taught the scouts how they can show their Muslims in society. We completed our prayers at the mosque. At the last mosque we were given lots of tasty food.
Raft Building
This was an event, which most scouts and cubs enjoyed. This was held at Fairlop Sailing Centre (Fairlop). The instructor was excellent and was very helpful. Unluckily a few people fell in but everyone had a great time even though it was raining. There was a lot of teamwork which took place and lots of new skills were learnt.
Canoeing
This for many people was a first time experience. Most scouts were scared but when they entered, felt safe and secure. The back seat was the most uncomfortable and so were the two middle seats. The first seat at the front was the best and everyone’s arm was aching due to us rowing. We had a great time and were all great full for having the opportunity to have gone. We all enjoyed it and were looking forward to the next opportunity to go.
Spring Camp
This camp was in spring; it was a FANTASTIC event that everyone enjoyed. When we arrived we were separated into two teams, we competed against each other, the atmosphere was competitive but at the same time we were all having fun. Even though we were having fun we still prayed all our Namaz. We had football tournaments; rock climbing, archery and loads more!!
Colchester zoo
The Colchester zoo trip was enjoyable, educational and a lot fun. We were split into groups on arrival and also assigned a group leader. We were given booklets that we had to fill out within the time we had there. The booklet set tasks to find different animals and to find certain facts about it. We had lunch, which we packed and then we had 1 hour of free time. This was brilliant and they trusted us not to behave badly because we were representing the Muslim scout’s organisation. This like all other events was fantastic.
House Of Lords
Our scouts group visited the House of Lords. It took very long to get there but it was worth it
because although we had to change lots of trains which took a very long time-quite fun though. A man took us around the building for a short
tour and we learned a lot of things from there.
One of the thing we learned whilst we were being shown around is that the Parliament is made of
