Membership Policy

Al-Noor Muslim Scouts is open to all young people of any background within the age ranges above. Scouts are expected to adhere to good Islamic manners at all times in the 7th Goodmayes behaviour policy. Spaces are limited and a waiting list may apply. Children who miss three meetings in a row without contacting their Section Leader may lose their place.

Fees

Membership fees are currently £10 to join and £20 per term. Fees are payable on joining and at the beginning of each term and may be payable in cash, with a cheque (payable to 7th Goodmayes) or by standing order.

The fees cover rent for the school/hall we meet in and annual subscriptions to The Scout Association for every member of the Group. The Scout Association provides many resources, such as insurance cover when undertaking activities.

We will inform you of the cost of trips and camps when these are organised.

Note: Gift Aid - If you pay tax, the local Scout Group can use Gift Aid to claim 28p for every £1.00 you give in subscriptions or donations. All you need to do is sign & return the Gift Aid declaration. All the money will be used to benefit members of the Scout Group.

The first few weeks

No matter what the Section, every child who joins has some apprehension… will I know anyone? Will I like it there? Will I like what they do? All are reasonable questions so we want to make sure that your child WANTS to join.

When you bring your child along we ask you to complete a form, giving us your child’s details and some details about you and how we can contact you if we have to.

For about four weeks, we ask for no money and don’t ask you to buy a uniform or anything like that. Once we are happy that your child is happy and really does want to join, the Leaders will talk to you about getting the uniform and paying the membership fees.

The first few months

Your child will now be immersed into the Scouting experience. They will get as much from Scouting as they put into it.

We aim to give your child as many opportunities as we physically can and we appreciate your support. You may now be hearing about events coming up because you’ve received a letter from a Leader - please take time to read it properly… there may be some very important information in there and your child may miss out on something as a result of you doing the same. If you have any questions, please ask a Leader at the earliest opportunity.

You will hear about Outings

  • With all outings, you will be required to complete a form to give permission for your child to take part.
  • There may be some personal/medical details required.
  • There will be instructions about payment.
  • There will be a closing date.
  • Please ensure that you take it all in and follow the instructions – they will be there for a reason.

You will hear about Camps and residential experiences:

Parental permision

It is taken as understood that you give your permission for your child to take part in Scout activities at the regular meeting place during the normal meeting time. Your permission is sometimes needed for specific events, camps and activities that may take place at a different venue or time. You will be asked to complete a parental consent form in such circumstances. Please inform us if you are not happy for your child’s picture to be used in publicity material from time to time.

Medical, dietary and other confidential information

It is essential that you inform the Section Leader if your son/daughter suffers from any medical condition or if they require any specialist medicines or treatment. Information regarding any special dietary requirements (allergies etc.) or food which you child can not eat is also essential.
